Bringing your wee one in for their newborn photography session is such a special moment — and a little bit of preparation will make sure we get the most beautiful, relaxed photos.
Timing is everything.
Newborn photography works best in the first couple of weeks after your baby’s arrival — ideally between 5 and 14 days old. At this stage, they’re still lovely and sleepy, and more likely to curl into those gorgeous, natural poses that melt your heart.
What to bring
Packing a few essentials can make the world of difference on the day. I’d recommend bringing:
A couple of soft, simple outfit options for you
A cosy blanket or two
Any personal keepsakes you’d love included — heirloom items make your newborn photography session even more meaningful.

Feeding & settling
Try to give your baby a good feed just before the session starts. A full tummy usually means a content, sleepy baby — perfect for those dreamy shots! We’ll always follow your little one’s lead though, with plenty of time for cuddles, top-ups, and wee nappy changes.
Your comfort matters too
Please dress in layers so you can stay comfortable — the studio will be kept nice and warm for your newborn, but you’ll want to be able to cool down if needed. There’s always water and snacks in the studio, but feel free to bring your own too. Especially if bringing siblings!
Mindset is key
Newborns are little bosses already — they’ll run the show, and that’s absolutely fine! Flexibility, patience, and a relaxed mindset will help everything flow naturally. It’s all part of capturing those real, heart-bursting moments that you’ll treasure forever.
